The puma will be more rev happy in theory, with that your cames seem to have changed the car quite massively anyway.

Stick with it mate, if you didn't have the cams it would be easier to say go for the 1.7, but you have them and where happy with it so stick with it.

Is it possible the head gasket is gone, its not uncommon after camming.

Sorry to hear about this, especially after the coilover trouble. I saw about 5 zetec s engines at the scrap yard near me so they should be pretty common to get hold of.

Generally with any sort of Cam timing it has to be worked, like a vtec to get some speed you gotta get up past 5k and get the vtec working, personally i love the pull of a vtec/VVT.

I was speaking to a guy at Honda when I test drove a few EP3's, and he was going on about how Toyota make exchange deals with Honda for patents and rights, for instance they've traded 2nd generation Vtec for 3rd generation VVTi technology before, etc.

At the end of the day and as I see it, VVT, VVTI, Vtec and i-Vtec were the pinnacle of a performance manufacturing process for fast hatchbacks and coupés with smaller displacements in the 90's and 00's, before the realisation that turbo charging even smaller displacement engines was both efficient and economic, which is what we'll see over the coming years more and more often.

End of the day, unless you're going to spend a lot of money on the 1.6 ZS engine, get in on the VVT action! That's my take on things. Think Adam wants that Puma now though, so this is slightly more relevant to his thread ;)

He can have it :lol: too much effort and not enough tools or knowledge to do it.

All I want is the car running with the cams and a remap at a sensible 140-150bhp. Nice and reliable still and just to drive it :lol: I don't want to be selling the cams, fitting a puma, buying cams for that etc etc, i'm already there, i just need to fix the engine and get a map :lol: this was always the plan and then I can start saving for life :lol:

at the end of the day it pulls hard, it has a little kick to it and I don't see a puma as a good option really.

As said before you cams do make it sounds much like my C2 to drive which isn't completely unlike a mini vtec as its been called, so you have already started to climb up the happy revy scales making it more like a puma engine. :lol:

I am genuinely interest what kind of power your 1.6 makes, I best watch it as I may start losing the best 1.6 badge at RR days. :lolz:

Once its fixed etc i'll get it RR'd / RR day, (depending on condition and funds :doh:) But yeah, i'm interested.

I also forgot to say I tried the 0-60 and my friend before said his 2.0 306 did 9.1 secs. So I trued twice and for 9.1 both times!

So as you say before, weight etc. 125 would be about right :D all I know is it pulls hard :)

Mine was putting out 131.1bhp on its last run, of course once yours is fully setup it will have a good kick + I guess the fiesta is lighter so you should be quicker. With that my 0-60 is around 8 seconds (apparently).
