Yeah, I had a look through it Chris and I think I might just go for it.

Worst case is I grind off the rivets, bottle it and replace them with bolts.
Its a simple enough process so will give it a go

The camber adjustment all depends how low the car is. You wont know how much it is effected or anything until you get a full geo setup, a normal laser alignment should be able to give camber readings too though.

If I was you, I would grind off the tops of the rivets then remove the ball joint, take the rest of the rivet out of them and whack some bolts in there. When it comes to making them camber adjustable, just elongate the holes enough for the ball joint to be pushed up against the arm, I'm not sure how many mm's it'll shave off the arms, all depends on how they manufacture the ends. I think I wrote the measurement down somewhere but cant quite remember.

P.s. you'll need a vice.

Hi Danny,

Yeah, I think that's what I'll do rather than cutting into the arms to get more adjustment.
I'm not overly low so shouldn't need much adjustment.

Will look into getting a new vice as mines is broken!

Watch this space...

Cheers mate!!

Well the plot thickens on the alarm/pats front.
When it starts doing its weird thing I can now hear that the central locking control module behind the drivers side hockey stick is clicking every time the light comes on. This was masked by the alarm horn before.
But I've also noticed that if I push the boot release button it makes the same noise and the boot won't open. So I think it's either a goosed control module or the connector at the boot as I have the odd problem with the rear wiper stuttering when I switch it off.

Just need to investigate a bit further now I have something to concentrate on...

Oops i appear to have bought a set of GSXR 600 throttle bodies along with an ST170 lower inlet and injectors :D
Just need to get some silicon joining hoses, blacktop fuel rail, respace throttle bodies then decide on management and give it a go. Simples!!

The quest for 200bhp/ton begins :)

Cheers guys!!

Just need to keep the motivation going so I can get them done and on.
Management is going to be the issue though.
I want to go megasquirt for a couple of reasons (cheap and the satisfaction of mapping and setting it up myself) but that brings with it the problem of the car not being drivable until I can get it mapped well enough. But I don't have cash for ms just now so will worry about that in a couple of months :)
Just need to get the tbs set up on the manifold and ready to plug and play.
If anyone knows of anyone selling cheap socks/itb filters let me know!!

Paul

You can basically just drive the car on a MS setup. Just find a base map - loads around on the net im sure, check locustbuilders website perhaps or just do a good google search for some, then you can basically put it into learn mode and it'll self adjust the map as it goes, of course it wont be perfect and you may need someone else in the car to adjust values manually if need be, but it's fairly straight forward, then either fine tune it yourself or take it somewhere to get it done properly. The latter option is the better one but for a temp get the car moving job, it'll be fine :)

Cheers mate, I can't wait to get into getting them on!!

Small update: I have stripped them down and have them sitting behind me at work waiting for one of the guys here to take them and make up some interference fit plugs for the old injector ports and the holes left by the secondary butterflies.

Paul

Well guys, quick update:

On the TBs I've not done much just stripped them down and checked over them and cleaned up the ST170 inlet. I've also ordered a 51mm > 45mm reducer silicon hose to check that is what I need and do a trial fit.
Will then get some spacers machined up along with some ally bungs for the injector holes etc.
Still no movement on management just now but will see what santa brings me :)

Also bought an RS1800 rear beam at the weekend so been stripping that down to clean up and put on with my polybushses.
Will make life a lot easier doing all the work on a beam off the car in spare time rather than bodging my way through it on the car.

Also has the benefit of larger rear drums (which will tie in nicely with the 4 pots when I get them on) and an anti roll bar too :)

No pics of any of the above as I couldn't be arsed taking any :lolz: but will maybe get some tonight depending on if I get out to the garage.

Paul
