Shame, just for the smoke factor

Mk5 dials will look awsome and you cant beat accuracy.
I never liked the black background on dials, I also wish they had backlit the si dials rather than them shitty bulbs.
The focus's are brilliant, they glow green when the lights are on.

MK5's are on hold until someone on ft.com figures out the fuel gauge issue, although I do like these MK4's I have in at the moment.

Would love backlit dials, looks soooo much better, but these with the blue leds arent too bad at all :)

I remember seeing the MANJ (MK3 Fiesta with ST170) and because that utilised the standard wiring loom etc, it had them clocks in and they looked the tits.. shame they are ECU controlled otherwise I'd attempt to fit them to mine! + the advantage that they can be setup for whatever wheels size you have!

It'll be set up for the standard 17's, so unless you have a dramatic change, no need to worry ;)

Does the fuel gauge read backwards with the mk5 dials or not at all ?

If it reads backwards i'm sure someone with some electrical knowledge can work out what you need to fit inline to make the gauge work

Yeah car is on the road, just need to swap exhaust and driveshaft. And sort a brake pipe which was an advisory on the test. Oh and underseal.

Yeah the MK5 fuel gauge will read backwards when fitted into a MK3 (and also did the same on the MK6 escort)
AW3K of fiestaguides is looking into it, saves me pissing about.

Also used a jetwash at tesco last night to wash off the soot from the powerstation that was covering the car..
Don't think this counts as good beading tho

The MK5 dials issue is being looked at by somebody who has the knowledge and time to mess about doing so.
So I'm awaiting that, otherwise I'm not arsed.. the MK4 ones are doing the job 10x better than the old dials.
For example.. 200 miles on mk3 dials was showing empty tank... 200 miles on mk4 dials, showing me at 1/4 tank left.
RPM's are more accurate, and speed is more accurate (along with mileage)

Not arsed with plasma dials either, I have to have blue lights like I currently have, to match everything else.
And also, plasma dials mean you can't see the mileage count (unless you had mk5 dials of course)

haha yea you cant see your mileage or odometer during the night, the backlites actually stop you seing it :(

i know what you mean, the mk3 fuel gauge is shit! they get to a quarter and just give up, i always go of my mileage, on average i get 300 miles to a tank, 55 to a tenner,

So today went to Tango's in brum,
collected a set of driveshafts and a magnex exhaust

Will try fit the exhaust tomorrow, not sure if I need a flexi or not.. but I will soon find out :)
And the driveshaft issue shall be sorted once I get round to fitting them!

On other plans...
Will be replacing both front brake pipes from the servo, as they were an advisory on the mot.
While doing that I will be fitting a Mondeo brake servo, which is a fairly easy modification.
Just need to change 2 of the brake pipe unions to m13's instead of 10's, which will be the front 2 I replace, and fit the rear brake bias valves in the rear wheel arches.

Shall also fit the RS2K rears as I have them sat doing nothing!

:)

the servo i bought off tango was a doddle to fit and one of the best cost effective mods ive ever done, fiesta servo's really are not upto scrap

Will be getting the servo from 1 of the local scrapyards.
If it comes with the bias valves then fine, if not I'll move them.

Anyways..

I now have a Magnex exhaust system on the car! I can actually hear the engine now!

The Magnex system had a length welded in to make it longer to fit to a turbo downpipe, and as I have an Ashley manifold on this.. I was hoping it might be the right length.. it was actually 2" too long... but thats better than short.

The Powerflow was modded to fit the Ashley with a flexi pipe, welded on the stainless and clamped onto the Ashley.. and as the Magnex had a section sleeved on and welded which was slightly bigger diameter I cut that down 2", cut off the flexi from the Powerflow, made some slits and clamped it on...

Was worrying that it blow its tits off and force me to either weld or get a longer clamp on flexi.. but lucky.. its perfect :D

Image
Looks a mess because I wanted to make sure it didnt blow, so caked it with exhaust paste

Image
3" tip actually looks good, will probably keep it as is!

Image
And because I am now an exhaust master (I have done that many Fiestas now) it doesnt even hang down..

BOOYA!

Now to do the driveshaft sometime this week and jobs a good un till I can be arsed to do anything else.
