Well I fitted the flappers from the RS (which it kindly donated me )

Didnt get boost gauge in post so that was on hold and didnt bother turning fueling up.. and didnt find any 15" steelies so ah well!

But I cleaned it and took some nice photo's...

















ps. I hate the image auto resizer as it makes pics look poo.

if you resize them yourself you wont have that problem how about big chunky offroad tyres?

alex its on 60mm gmax all round and with them 13's on it sits a tad lower, had a few issues with a kerb earlier and got it stuck

and dont you worry, that idea has already been in the works as a mess about.. but i said no! lol.

Well today I fitted the Boost gauge, which I plan on making into the middle vent panel with some fiberglass work once I feel like it.

But to my dissapointment the pickup is running 10psi... instead of the standard 15psi

The bleed valve I had fitted isnt doing anything either so thats annoying...

But I am currently trying to find out why it isnt boosting as much.. could be down to the fueling again.. will have a go tomorrow with the fueling and see if it affects boost levels with it wound up more.. if not then it could be airleak; but not convinced I have one tbh.

We shall see.. and eventually get to my target 20psi... TBH if its running this well on 10psi.. yes it wont set world on fire but its not bad.. then more boost will be goooood

that looks the mutts nuts

why not tune the diesel TD lump, up the compression turbo technics can make custom units up the boost lots of other littls odds and ends, a mate down the road has turned a 205 diesel into a scooby killer and its still economical if you keep your foot away from the floor

Well after alot of faffing about the pickup is now boosting properly!!!

Things were pointing to either actuator stuck or wastegate stuck.
Removed the exhaust manifold/turbo today and got an actuator rod from an escort td (as they are easier to remove than mondeos while in engine bay!)

Removed actuator, wastegate was fine.
Fitted the escort actuator which has a shorter rod anyway

Fitted back to pickup.. had a major problem, oil to turbo decided to leak and therefore all the contents of the sump ended up on the road instantly

Sorted problem.

Drove car, boosting to 20-22psi, standard is 15psi apparently but it used to boost 10psi.
Major improvement, just need the fueling upped some more! mainly the max fueling screw inside the pump, which I may do one day but will have to remove radiator to get to it.

Get some proper boost pipes and plumb in my front mount, top mount keeps popping off so may just get a tiny bit of silicone pipe for that to keep me going

Wonder what BHP it makes at the RR day?

Hoping to get fueling upped some more by then, needs upping as I have no black smoke, best to have some when you boot it

Once Ive got all that done I am looking into water/alcohol injection or some NOS injection for flooring it / sprints.. or may just leave it as it is.

Might even have the new wheels on by then depending on money.. although I do get payed a few days before the RR day (I think...) which would be good!

Well had to have an update after spending all day wanting to set the pickup on fire!!

Basically after the trip to Sixfields popping the boost pipes off the intercooler after 14psi on the M1.. I decided it was time to sort it out.. specially as I got a phone call today with my shifts this week.. all involving driving 30 miles or so to work and back.. so need it to be reliable!

So first things first.. B&Q for some longer bolts for the bonnet, and made some bonnet raisers from my spare inch box section. These are needed due to engine temps and the interwarmer

So cut them down, drilled some holes.. and sprayed up black!








Then got a better clamp for the IC pipe from the turbo which kept popping off.. one of them clamps that look like this:


While I had the IC off I suddenly thought hmmm, IC is above the hot exhaust manifold and turbo:


So went about and cut up some of my spare steel sheeting to use as a heatsheild for under the IC.. might make abit of difference. I used an old sunroof rubber to stop pipes and wiring rubbing on the sharp edges.

If anything.. it looks better, and will remain even when I get my front mount piped up.



Then next was the boost pipe... few attempts at this to get correct.. and then also added a bolt to the IC where it bolts into the inlet manifold, as it should on the Mondeo setup..
This should therefore stop the IC moving and making the pipe pop off also...


Went for a blast around on the B roads giving it some 20psi boot to see if it pops off.. came home, pipe had not moved.. which means so far its safe from popping off, but I wont say never



(excuse the dirty engine bay, been spraying excess water from the system as I put too much in.. I will eventually tart the bay up )

Also tightened alternator up to make sure it charges my bloody battery for once!

So there we have it.. hopefully a reliable pickup.. which I greatly need to get to work
