They are quite good, think he bought it for 1k or so and it's a cheap all rounder....
I think he was giving it abit more in the corners than the 205 to be fair.....hence why he's now got to get 2 new fronts

Not the best of updates unfortunately
Terry and others know I have been having annoying problems with idling....
Well yesterday we did a compression test on the engine.
Cylinder 1,2,3 ALL very good (around 200psi i think)
Cylinder 4 around 100 psi...
So looks like a cylinder head problem, most likely something to do with the valves not reseating properly.

I've also concluded I have a slightly blocked Injector on cylinder 3, and also could do with a new coilpack. And maybe a TPS if the idle problem persists but i think it's caused by one of the above.

So not only am I having problems with idling the engine is also massively underpowered. I think it has been progressively getting worse but I did notice a drop in performance a few months before the RR last year (in 2008 got 95bhp, in 2009 got 95bhp - Despite adding P&P TB and High performance cams).

I've called my insurance company (eCar) and they do not cover engine conversions, which is a bugger as this IS the time to do it. My renewal isn't until Jan, so looks like i'm stuck with the 1.6!

So the plan is to get the head fixed in either May or June. I'm hoping it doesn't cost me too much but I don't really have any other options.... At the same time i'll get the injectors and coilpack done and you never know I might be near the ever elusive three figure bhp mark....

Elward i did think about it...but probably not financially worth it at the minute (being that said neither is throwing 300-500 on the current engine!

Chris, thanks for offer, may take you up on it, depending how much new items are (i'm trying to get new where possible).

Ok, so decided to formalise this now..
Having diagnosed the Si with low compression on cylinder 4 i've decided to finally convert to either 1.8 or 2.0.
SRMC will be undertaking the work, so as of now i'm on the lookout for parts
Heres some pics from the weekend....comments appreciated as always.
Big thanks to all for help with the diagnosis of the misfire :FSI:

good pic's andy

i'd personally go straight for the 2.0 ;), keep an eye out for an RS1800 inlet and the correct ecu and you'll be laughing

whens the planned work going ahead?

Whats the difference in the two conversions in terms of work?
I know abit about the 2.0ltr, so the question is really aimed at the 1.8 option.
Tbh, I think i'll take what I can find - so longs it has lowish mileage etc..
Gordon will have it beween 14th-18th of June...which is funny because the RR is on the 13th....

Well I was sort of thinking of dropping it off on the 11th anyway as I wouldn't need it for the RR...
It may make an appearance yet. Either way i'll be at the RR, not running though unfortunately..
