I hate to say it, but I reckon your going to have some trouble with this

I hope you don't, but as easy as people say it is, and it is just nuts and bolts its still a pain in the arse, There will be stuff you can't get to and stuff that wont loosen and others you'll round off or something

Then again, you could have it all perfect straight away, either way I can't wait to see how it goes

all depends on the cars mileage and how ell its been serviced and maintained, this Si i own was easy, most my other cars were sods, things round off, ofcourse

lol thanks chris! well from your past experience id understand why you'd think that i too am very warey of how it will go... hence why i'll be booking a fair few days off... and you mustn't forget i have a garage literally round the corner so any issues i hit i know they will come help... i hope lol...

recent news: i emailed avo lastnight to find out the correct dimentions for the rear bushes on the coilovers (since my moved around) and here is the reply...

'the kit you should have is gtz320/321 or some models take the 325/321 kit the difference is the front shocks have a different mount size into the hub, all the rears are the same

so to your problem, rear bottom bush size should be 12mm i/d x 45mm long

it does confuse me as they say the rears are all the same, however mk3 and mk3.5 havent different size hubs (6mm or something like that)... so ill measure and see what the news is, if not ill just have to space them out with washers

i need 2 new bearings for the front suspension, the top part rethreading and they should be on... im also thinking i will be investing in some area six wishbones, yes they carry a hefty price tag but imo they will work.

for the wheels im going to spray them white, kurb marks im going to file down so they will come off over the next couple of days and my steelies can replace them.

so the list of things i need done before i start the engine is as follows:

sort coilovers
sort wheels
replace rear wheel bearings (if noise carrys on ill remove hubs and go and have them done at my garage)
replace my dampers (which i will be posting in the technical problems section.
fit bigger brakes, servo and braided lines

so that needs to be done before i begin my hard work

a big thanks to everybodys suggestions, support, info so far... fingers crossed it goes well... for once im actually doing something!

Avo should be able to send you some bushes for the rear. As stated, all shocks on rear on the 3 and 3.5 are the same. The 3 and 3.5 front hubs are slightly different. But if you have a 3.5 kit you'll be fine.

You may need a washer either side then Ben, cant remember if I have some on mine or not. I think I may have one either side. If the bar in the middle is to small its normal, because they some in set sizes

you never told me this last time you bell otherwise i would have ended up putting them on back then! sweet. any idea on what sized washes you have on?

Yeah one either side of the bush. I will check tomorrow for you. Think they are 10mm washers, would make sense if the bolt is M10 which I think they are. Basically just measure the hole in the bush on the coilover, it's either 10 or 12mm. Can't remember from when I've had mine off. All my bolts have been changed for stainless steal ones with 19mm heads rather than the standard 15mm ford heads which usually round off.

Might be worth doing that on yours, saves any hassle later down the line

I got mine from my old work, but they came from screwfix originally. Only downside to that is the fact you can't buy them individually. I'm sure there are companies which can sell you them individually though
