Cheers guys :D

Paul - For my model, you need to scour American eBay really so not sure if there is a Ford model in another country that has the same cluster surround you could look out for?

I'd get my pillar pod from America, but being yanks and all, LHD...

I have had to block my manifold up as the boost hose doesn't fit as it's not long enough in it's new location as I have to route it through the other side of the engine bay, so ordered a new longer 2m hose from eBay for a fiver. Halfruads wanted £17.99 and it didn't even look close to 2m in length :0 There's a reason I rarely go on there...

Attention to Detail is incredible on this car Ry, doing everything by the book must cost you a bomb surprised your allowed to be let loose haha but its done to such a high standard i would want the security myself, i cant help but feel the focus isn't at its peak and could do with that little bit of treatment but if i were to start spending i would never stop lol

Great work, need to catch up again and see it in the flesh, when exactly are you looking to change to another body?

My alloy fan shroud and fan turned up yesterday.

Image

Hoping my triple core radiator arrives next week too.

I'm going to ideally install the temp gauge first, and see what temperatures I'm currently getting.

Then install the new rad/fan shroud/fan.

Then from there I'll know if I may need a little extra help by way of water wetter, a lower temp thermostat, turbo radiator, etc.

Cheers
Ry

Sounds like it's all slowly coming together now. Hopefully all this stuff will keep everything nice and cool :)

 now I know!

My triple core radiator arrive today, so fitted it up with my fan shroud kit to make sure it f went on without any alignment issues.

Also here's my radiator temp sender adapter:
Image

bargain!

As I've already said, fitting the temp gauge first, seeing what temps I actually get and then putting the new rad/fan on and seeing what temps I get, then adding the water wetter for a final comparison.

Ry

Not a bad price at 650 as the gearbox would go for £300, wheels for £250 and blown engine block - well I sold my one with a spun shell for a hundred, and the head is worth £300+

I'd have it if the shell was mint but as the guy stated it isn't :( Nice find though, Adam!

In other news, car progress is slow. Loads of niggly bits I can't do that I need to find someone who can weld alloy, bolt in a filter relocation bracket and cut some stainless lines cleanly.

Really need to get it mapped...

So took a drive to see someone and upon opening the bonnet I was greeted with no oil cap and oil splattered everywhere

The oil cap was still about, and it had actually broken off - apparently a common thing, who knew!:

Image

So in true pikey fashion, I nicked an oil cap from someone elses car like a ninja.

Image

Not a bad fit, eh? He will never notice what's missing

Image

   Anyway!...

You can see how tight my radiator is to the manifold in this picture:

Image

It's currently held on with wire, a bolt and what not as I need 2x alloy brackets welding to the rad so it fixes to the chassis IF I'm happy with the heat range it operates at.

Anyway, main reason to update the thread was to show a few quick phone snaps of my new engine mounts:

Image

Lovely titanium grey colour and they are very solid in feeling.

Image
Image

Not the best pictures but they are with my phone and I didn't wipe the mounts clean beforehand but they perfect and exactly what I wanted.

So that's another thing on the list ticked off! Should be able to call up and book in my remap in the next few weeks as long as I pull my finger out. Need to get it done as I am losing so much faith in the car as every job done usually yields a new unforeseen job.

Ry

I think I'll be eating my words Chris. The car is being broken by the end of the year. Unsure if I will re-shell or not, I just want to drive it boosting properly for a while. Too many issues with it, and it's just not fun anymore.

Would of had more fun in a standard DC2 and doing 1 trackday a month than owning this and doing none. Gotta love hindsight.

Don't feel ashamed, everyone does! Otherwise I wouldn't have been so confident

There's nothing stopping you popping yourself in a DC2 after this! You've done something lots of people would love to do and enjoyed using it i'm sure! it's a shame to break it but at the end of it all as long as you've had your fun, its been a good car!

Well we'll just see what happens, It's not like I've changed my mind about it last month when I was almost dead certain on breaking it with my mate the very next day.

I'm buying an EP3 Type R in the next few weeks and letting the missus drive it as her daily until she can get a better car later in the year, so that will become my daily and I can decide on what happens to the DC2.

Which means I can at least start getting onto trackdays this year, even if it isn't in the DC2. :D

I had a little catastrophe at the weekend.

Jacked the car up with my new super cool trolley jack, replaced the new rad with my old Tegiwa one to double check the heat differences, and as the oil leak I had the other day from the broken filler cap had dripped onto the jacking point, as I let the jack down, a trolley jack wheel got wedged in a crack in the driveway floor and the mounting point slipped off the jack

Cue my old tegiwa radiator sitting 12" higher than it should be, water pouring everywhere... i nearly cried! Luckily the jack missed the turbo/manifold/downpipe by an inch, if that and it just killed my rad, the rad mounting points and cracked a little bit of my light fitment at the back.

However with a turn of luck, now the light fitting had broken, I could mount my radiator another 2" to the left of the bay, and with the help of my brother we fabricated 3 brackets and bled the system and this system now cools as well as the Tegiwa one, and I think there's still a little more bleeding to do - the other main thing is I now have room to fabricate a heat shield between the rad and the turbo/manifold.

In other news, my oil filter relocation kit arrivedyesterday:

Image

Buying an uprated oil cooler today (rather get an APS 19 row than use an unbranded 13 row) and getting a PLX wideband kit as my car may be tuned next week :o

Also emailing my old tuner about some of the dodgy work that went on with my car like the leaky/bent oil sump and water line that is frayed.

Loads happening with the car ATM.
