they dont meet the card at the bottom correctly,a nd its tricky securing it as mk3s dont use a screw in the place mk5s do, i just used a self tapper and made it screw into the clip behind the hole

See the massive gap along the bottom of the drivers one?

You will now!

Oh and jony, on the MK3's, you know how the standard inner panels use a screw into a red plastic plug? Get a couple of those, the screws, and on the angled edge there's a hole with a small metal clasp that holds part of the standard trim panel, squash the red plug shove it in and it lines up perfectly with the hole in the MK4 and 5 panels. Ford just moved it because of the different door card design.

It's secure as it could ever be on a MK4 from factory!

Oh my head. My eyes. My middle finger from using a contraption called a pen!

Starting from the back and working forward, this is what I have so far:

Image

The above pic has the rear lights and also the connection to the boot lid. No more silly connections that hardly work properly. And yes I just realised I forgot the offside rear speaker.

Provision added for ever being able to figure out rear electric windows!

Not including one touch relays.

The fun bit will be drawing up the wiring hidden under the dash! This might be modular too, probably much easier to figure out.

Proper electrical joints for the additions and modifications I'll be making. Probably won't use any connectors between sections but it helps break it up.

Been under the dash sorting out a replacement clutch cable after the RAC quick fix stretched too much. My god the amount of wires and connectors is ridiculous! The entire loom under there is probably twice as thick as it needs to be due to all the soldering joints, tape and connectors. Definitely going to do a rewire. Drawing up the under dash stuff tonight. That is going to be fun!

As I'm adding a hell of a lot more to the loom especially in places like under the dash things are going to get even more messy. My plan is to get an entire loom out of a car, and use that to build on in the house. Once it's built (and quite easily tested) I'll be taking out the old loom and literally zip-tying and plugging this one straight in.

It'll have some streamlining done on the wiring (did you know the illumination feeds for the centre console are sometimes only joined together from the same feed under the steering wheel?) and additional functions and optional ideas added. For example, I want rear electric windows and I'm nowhere near starting that idea mechanically but the loom will support it, and there'll be a plug in the door ready for it. I'm using one of the free slots in the fusebox as an engine run relay holder to send less power through the ignition relay and switch and with the second fusebox in the engine bay I can have a hell of a lot less wiring confusing things if further modifications are wanted.

Haynes has let me find out that it possibly is quite easy to do rear electric windows.

Riddle me this one.

Change clutch cable. Car now has...

Better clutch pedal feel. As expected.
Better gear stick feel. As expected.
Better engine running. Nice bonus I guess.
Lighter more precise steering. Eh?

Not that magic. I keep flinging it side to side after bodybuilding my upper body driving it with the heavy steering. Does need tracking now that I can feel more about what's happening.
