the car is a 1992 k reg 3 door in moonstone silver.

it's done about 82 thou and tbh you can see it on the body but i have seen worse and it's not bad for a first car. it drives really well even with crappy cheapo tyres on it.

just got back from driving around with a mate so i will get a pic up when i workout how to get this photbucket sorted out.

thanks op, i know what you mean about corsas but it's not the usual chavvy example with halford wheels and stick on viper stripes.

the fez can still out handle it though even with the hankang tyres on(i think thats what they are called)

anyways, what is the best way to start getting rid of surface rust?

Get an xr2i kit on her and lowered and jobs a gooden

the xr kit will cover any rust and just don't worry about it untill you fall through the floor one day lol

my dad used to have a j reg mk 5 escort LX in exactly the same colour and trim so you just brought some memories back lol.

It looks good and I think with it being silver you can make it into quite a nice car. Make it into a silver si or xr/rs turbo and your onto a winner!!!

i have a few ideas floating about but i want to get the rust sorted out, the fuel filler pipe is a bit loose becuase around it has rusted away on the back.

i wil be lowering it when i can though with a arb'ed rear beam if i can

rear arb wont make much difference mate, just get a front one sorted

my fiesta pickup didnt have a rear arb and i had no problems raping it around silverstone!!

it already has a front arb but the bushes look like they have seen better days.

thanks alot rob, it's nice that it had the xr2i rear spoiler and steering wheel on it when i got it so i dont have to start drilling more holes in the boot.

does anyone know how to unbolt the steering wheel? it points off to the left when the wheels are pointing forwards

oi of course it will survive (i will go very easy on the rusty bits)

i hope most of the rust shall be gone by then anyways or some of it, oh and a might need a new passenger door because a little gate post popped out at me when i had to reverse uphill on a busy road into a drive
