The more I look at it the more a V6 makes sense.

I can get it all done for £2300 and have 196bhp, thats keeping the original gearbox etc.

That would be the Xantia V6 24 valve 3.0 engine with 267Nm torque, apparently 88% of the torque is there at 2000rpm.

It is heavier but the cars which have had it done say it has helped handling, the most popular mod is Nos.

It does make more sense as you know I would hit a wall at 160bhp by spending close to £1200.

Only problem with the V6 plan is I can't do it in stages, so I will save up and do it in a few years or so. My engine should be worth a bit as a low mileage example by that point to.

Hmm I wouldn't go on what others on forums have said about weight and handling, exactly how much more weight are we talking about?

160bhp for £1200 with a perfectly balanced setup may end up quicker than a £2300 193bhp on a badly balanced setup that will need further suspension changes and tweaks. It may involve moving things like the battery to the boot to help ease the extra front heavy setup, new springs and dampers, etc etc, hidden costs.

The addition weight would be approx 60kg. So it should ruin the car byt change it slightly. The later spec engines make 210bhp too.

Scary thing is how a 3.0 V6 does actually fit in the engine bay without moving the battery.
