Cam timing could slip and give normal idling, also the tensioner bolt could have loosened so cam timing could have slipped. For the time it takes to check it is a very worthwhile half hour just to make sure. If it was starved of petrol it would not rev well through the entire rev range under load but would be ok when not being driven. If it was starved of air it would struggle once it got to the point at which there was not sufficient airflow to keep the power going. Have you checked the airfilter ? |

air filter is relatively new checked and cleaned recently... im thinking its to do with being starved of petrol, will re-check the timing though - i also swapped my head recently, so air leaks is a real possibility too thinking about it |

ok, i've checked the hoses and pipes, no splits, all in correct positions (Can tell by bend)... think i found the problem today.... went to adjust the accelerator cable, but first took the air induction system to see how far it was opening the throttle with foot down ![]() seen it, laughed a little, must be half-throttle? thats with the pedal fully down... so i went about adjusting and after some fiddling with no sucess i thought i'd ask you guys i think i know what to do, but i can't be bothered to trial and error now.. ![]() the pic above shows the gromit thing, do i have to undo the nut before the gromit? then push /pull the cable? there is meant to be a securing clip i THINK for the gromit, but i've lost it when i swapped the head, think it's only to keep the gromit in the bracket though so wouldn't affect the cable... so can anyone shed light on this for me... thanks ..tested o2 sensor but unplugging it, in which i ran abit richer and abit faster but no doubt emission would have been v.bad, therefore i think the o2 is working fine cheers andy |

You need that clip thing to stop the cable moving within the grommet |
