Problems now sorted it was the smaller pully - the bearing had gone.

As title says. Doesnt sound too good! so cars laid up while i work out what it is. Think its a bearing on the big pulley but just had my cam belt done and im sure hes changed it?? (check volume on comp as the noise goes right through you!) |

sorry nt technical minded. but i was thinking it was the big round pulley, thought that might have a bearing in it? |

im not being funny but spray abit of wd40 on all the centre points of the pullys while the engine is running, if its a bearing this may quieten it down or even stop the noise compleatly |

yea, wen u span it on you finger there was a small amout of movement from side to side aswell as it not spinning smooth, so the bearing inside had gone. If u think about it tho if there was a small amout of movement from side to side with me spinning it, what would of it of been like spinning 10 times as fast on the engine??  could of been dangerous if it hadnt of made that noise eh
