Hi everybody!
I've posted on various Ford forums and nobody can figure out whats wrong with my car so I thought it was time to branch out a little further.
It started a month ago when my head gasket went. I bought a new head because mine was warped and rebuilt and fitted it no problem. However now it's all back together the car wont idle properly. I've done various things and narrowed it down to an electrical/sensor fault. The car idles perfectly with both the ISCV and MAF unplugged, and also with the ISCV in and the MAF out. The problem starts as soon as I plug the MAF in...
If I start the car with both plugs out it will idle bang on 900rpm and hold it perfectly. I can rev it as much as I like and it will always fall back to the sweet spot. As soon as I plug the MAF in the car stutters and stalls. If I start the car with the MAF in and rev it, the revs will go up and fall all the way back down to 0. So to sum up, the car idles and revs fine with the MAF unplugged, and stalls with it in. I know this is the total opposite of what should happen and this is where I'm stumped. I'm on my second ISCV and THIRD!!! MAF, and still the problem continues. The wiring to the MAF is showing between 5 and 6 volts so the signal is ok.
Does anybody have any ideas? I've been stuck trying to find this problem for nearly a month now!
(SORRY I SHOULD HAVE SAID. IT'S HAD A 2.0 CONVERSION FROM A 1993 MONDEO!)
