my head gasket is going do they cost alot and are they hard to change? any help plz

the heads the easy bit, its the cambelt, needs to be put on right and tensioned

The cost of a head gasket and head bolts is usually about £50 and they are easy enough to do. The cambelt is also easy provided you have the Zetec cam timing tool or you make one as per workshop manual. The cambelt tension is usually set bu the spring that usually falls off most cars and can be bought from Ford as a replacement. I can usually do a zetec head gasket replacement in about 2 hours, but i always take my heads to have them vac tested, pressure tested and skimmed. and that costs me about £50 but it guarantees that the job is cock on and won't go again. I would also strongly recommend you replace your thermostat too as these usually cause the HG to blow in the first place.

BTW you HAVE to replace the head bolts as they are stretch bolts, what ever you do, NEVER reuse them as you will blow the gasket again as the bolts fail.
