right my car is almost finished just got the problem of sorting out the gear alighnment hod do i do this because first is about where fifth is meant to be

yeh well cant realluy get it in neutral ill have to try doing it in first instead will give it a go at weekend, cheers mate

best and only real way of doing this, take the selector arm off the rod from gear box, using a screw driver to pull, push and twist the rod, put the gear box in 4th gear.
to get 4th, go through the gears, laying under car with feet sticking out the front, twist it anti clockwise and pull out, thats 1st, then keep it twisted to left and push in, thats 2nd, pull out and strighten the screw driver, thats 3rd, push in thats 4th.

now with someone in the car, put the selector rod back over the shaft from gear box and make sure the pinch bolt is loose, get them to put it in 4th, you will see a line around the shaft as to were the sector arm norm comes up to, get it as close to/on that line as poss and tighten the pinch bolt.
go through the gears with engine off, then do it with engine running and if it needs it adjust it a little as needed
