		<td colspan="2"><hr class="sep" />I've been told by a mate that my rear offside shock absorber is knackered.
<br />
<br />When I shake that corner of the car, it makes a "knocking" sound, unlike the other side, also, its quite a bit more bouncier when I go around corners. Is it definately the shock absorber that is broke?
<br />
<br />Does anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to have a new shock absorber fitted? 
<br />
<br />I'm going to a couple of garages tomorrow after work, so I just want a rough price to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. I think the shock absorber costs about £30 on its own...
<br />
<br />Is it an easy enough job to do yourself? Or is it something that you would get a garage to do?
<br />
<br />The car is a Mk5 Fiesta 1.3i (Probably about the same price as a Mk3)

		<td colspan="2"><hr class="sep" />i work in a garage i would recomend that for 50 od quid let the garage do it. if you have done them before or just seen them done its an easy enough job but if you havn't then you probably won't have the tools to do a proper job and even a rear spring can hurt if it starts to fly, not as dangerous as a front spring but still. the reason you should change both rear shockers at the same time is your car wont corner properly- not when drivng normally however fast you think you drive, its when something unexpected happens the car will be very hard to control,its about the damping rate and alsorts of other bits that keep the tyre on the floor <img src="./images/smilies/icon19.gif" alt=":insanity:" title="insanity" />
