mmmm ish true well bear with me but u dont have to send the car away to get reprogramed

it keeps the basic settings for the engine to run coz it has a internal battery in the ecv but on some engines i dont think the si it doesnt keep the settings coz u have to rev the engine to 2500 or just above rpm for 10 mins i think so the ecu learns the revs n all that stuff

but saying that i did it any way just to make sure when i was messing about with the engine once

The Si doesn't need reprogramming. As Mouse said it stores basic info on there to ensure the car can be run again, but it will just learn again after a short while of driving. It may run lumpy when you first start it and drive it, but give it a quick blast about and it will all be good
