It was burning alot more oil than normal yes, but my leak was only small, on the right side of the cam cover, it was going down the side of the block and down one of the spark plugs. It didn't smoke that much but it did a little bit. I think the cheapest option for you now is to change the cam cover gasket and see if that cures it, but make sure you clean all the area's the oil has got to that it shouldn't have before you do it. If it seems to solve your problem, but not completely, give it time, but might be worth getting an oil change too. And get some new sparks ![]() |

ok well i will do that tomorrow and let u know how i get on with it, cause i think u could well b right there, becasue the old gasket being slippery as it had oil on it could easliy have slipped off where it sits in the cam cover but no signs of leaks on the outside mayb on the inside but i can't remember what the gasket looks like...... does a bit of the gasket go through the centre of the cam not just around the outsside? ![]() |

Yeah, its the shape of the cam cover, then there are 2 more inner lines that run from side to side, if you get me. Easy enough to do, and it's recommended to change cam cover gaskets when you remove the cover anyway. |

Oooo, unlucky ![]() For £100 though, you could get a 2ltr. £30 for gearbox. Sorted. You'll only regret it if you stick another 1.6 in there, then a few months later want a 2ltr, and have to go through the whole engine swap again. But it's up to you in the end. For simplicity, get the 1.6, but for future proofing, get a 2ltr. ![]() |
