The leads are Champion. Haven't checked the MAF sensor yet so I'll try that.

Jd - When you say a fueling issue, what might I be looking at if this is the case?

chris, couple of ideas to have a play with,

.start her up.

.unplug maf sensor.

fault gone? a)

.Turn her off (ign. off)

.Unplug small fuse for injection 3-5AMP in fusebox, bottom left, (mouses tip - this clears the ECU of faults), leave it out for 30seconds or more.

.Plug fuse back in
.Start her up

fault gone? b)

.Clean Idle speed control valve

.If you run a wire from the negative terminal of the battery to one of the wires on the ISCV connector, you can earth it and make it work, it should rev the engine to around 2000RPM if it's working, if not then replace it. (please try both terminals of the connector before writing it off).

.Check for air leaks on the intake side of things, any sounds of air being sucked in from anywhere it shouldnt? - split pipes etc.

if the fault persists, buy a 3 pin diagnostic reader from halfords for £20 and plug her in, clean the cars connector out first mind.


btw to check your coil pack, take a spark plug out (each in turn), and put the spark plug into the end of its lead and hold the lead with plastic grips or make sure your hand is plenty far enough away from the end, get a mate to turn the engine over while you touch the spark plug on the rocker cover, it should spark, or you could use a timing light (or at night) to see sparks, do this for all 4 and that should confirm the coil pack is working ok for now (all be it not under load)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, gonna try them out on Sunday. Tried the 3amp fuse trick just, but the problem is still there. Strange thing is it dosent seem to do it at idle (at least I havent noticed it) only seems to happen whilst driving.

Anyway thanks for all your help, its invaluable because I'd really rather sort this out myself than pay a garage to do it :)

The fault has gone! :? :D Was there one day, and now its gone at least 4 days with no sign of it at all strangely. I took the MAF sensor off and had a look but it wasn't dirty so I put it straight back, and that was literally all I did lol.

Oh well, heres hoping it dosen't return, and thanks everyone for all your advice and suggestions :)
