When i did the test drive of my Fiesta i noticed that the orange airbag light was on. The car has 2 airbags, driver and passenger. At the moment i can't say something else because the car is still at the previous owner home. Anyway, have you got some suggestions? Thank you in advance. |

My first suggestion would be to disconnect the battery for half hour to allow the airbag system to discharge and then pop the airbags out carefully and inspect the connectors , then carefully disconnect the connectors and get yee old multimeter out and check the resistance across the 2 pins on each airbag and check neither is open circuit Haynes may or may not have the required resistance range but someone here might know it |

If the airbag connectors check out and the resistance is about the same for both next thing to check is the continuity between the airbag plug on the front and the rear of the rotary switch on the steering column, there's a good chance the coil spring has broken inside . I see that allot at work |

I agree with Megaflea on both parts above. If it is the second part of the clock spring behind the steering wheel I have one which I have just taken out of my car as I've put an a Sparco string wheel in without airbag. You can have it for the price of postage if you need it  Cheers Paul |

Thanks for the answers!! I'm always busy and i still haven't had the time to check this....but when i'll find a bit of time i'll check it. Very good idea ElPaulio! I want to change my steering wheel too!! The stock one is too fat for me and i don't like it. The M-Tech 1 i han on my E30 was ways better. Anyway i have to wait until April because i have the revision check (the same as your mot) and a sport steering wheel on a car with airbag is not legal. I'd like a deep dish like OMP Corsica or maybe a flat one with spacer that is less noticeable......police and Carabinieri don't like after market steering wheels ![]() |
