Is this quite a common problem? Had one put in about 5 weeks ago when it snapped, pedal felt fine and light as it did before it first snapped, didn't feel any more heavy than any other car I've driven but again today it snapped on me, managed to rev match the car about 15 miles but busy traffic and red lights meant I was forced to ring the AA again, tried to get a cable on, but was either too slack to move the linkage or too tight that the pedal wouldn't budge so had to have her towed...Clutch grabs brilliantly, previous owner tells me it is a stage 2 clutch hence why it's a little unforgiving and jerky but pedal doesn't feel stiff or heavy, AA bloke reckons I need a new clutch ratchet and cable? This sound normal? cba having to take the box out spent enough money on it already... |

Where did the cable snap, at the nipple at the gearbox end? If so did you grease it up where it goes into the leaver end as this is where it seizes up and the twisting snaps nipple off. |

Try clean off any crud from where the nipple sits and then cover nipple with copper slip or something and make sure it can move about a bit and should be fine |

the ratchet arm is solid metal no way that would snap before the clutch cable does. i had issue with clutch cable too, when mine snapped the nipple end on gearbox ratchet it was a mission to take the nipple out it was proper siezed in. new one i got in with lots of grease on the nipple and the housing end, so far so good its been on for a few years now. probably 5 years now. |

Think he means the ratchet and pawl on the pedal assembly as thats plastic and prone to stripping teeth ![]() |
