Hi all . Been a fiesta 1600 si 16v owner since i took delivery of a sparkling new one in 1995- trouble free and great times all the way (well nothing major) but now approaching a well serviced 100000 miles have picked up a problem . when pulling away or reving engine get loadsa spluttering and no response when put pedal down , ok when feather throttle down gently and build up rev's , occosionally cuts out and have to turn off and restart no problems ????? done plugs /leads/fuel filter .Cleaned MAS /changed air filter reset ECU ??? gonna go for Crank sensor next tempted by changing coil -distribution unit . any thoughts as i can't bear to see my old girl like this . and its starting to drive me nuts ..... and i wished i found this great site ages ago well done to all .

i must ad mit that this is whats happening to mine at the mo
have u tried takeing out the 3amp fuse out ov the fuse box for 30 secs then put back in n see how she runs?
but what im going for in a while is the lambder sensor n c if that does any thing

does sound like an ignition or sensor fault
i'd say you have a choice of:
Maf sensor, unplug it and see if its any better
TPS(throttle position switch) could try cleaning it
Coilpack, replace with new one
Lambda sensor, replace with new one

i cleaned my maf senser up n still no joy, what works on mine at the mo is disconnect the maf senser plug and mine runs fine i just need a new maf

sussed it .... got use of a garage for a day or two so gave it a going over ... and would you believe that the new plugs i bought where faulty and 2 had an intermidiate fault and reluctant to spark under heavy load and no better then the knackered ones i took out (ok when slowly building up rev's) ? bought some better quality plugs (me thinks i should have done this in the first place ) fitted and problem solved . off down to hellfords to throw each of them in turn at the parts dept . . i think you can guess what make they where . theres a lesson in here somewhere
