lads, need m13 brake fittings to connect 2 of the pips up on the mondeo servo. however, i cant find any. are they referred to as fitting a copper pipe that's '3/16' ? the flaring kit i got doesnt have a 13 either. and i cant seem to find a size 13 anywhere either. thanks in advance. Ben |

What size is the actual brake pipe and are you talking about connecting direct into the master cylinder? Wouldn't thought it be 13 mm possibly 10mm? |

Post subject: | Re: brake fittings |
the originals are 10mm will, but two of them need to go to 13mm (according to fiestaguides) into brake unions. size of the brake pipe is just the standard size that came with the 1.4, no idea lol! |

13mm for a brake union, sounds odd. Have had a look about online and can't find any. You absolutely sure it needs a 13mm size? If it was in a Mondeo, surely there would be some about. The only way you can get it close to 13mm is if you go imperial and get something relatively close, but that's not guaranteed to work. 13mm is about half inch (a size you're well used to so I've heard ![]() |

flaring the pipe to the standard size, the union is still 13mm on two though. |

so i dont need to flare it to 13mm? but wont the fitting slip off? yeah i have one, i put the other somewhere, hopefully not the bin! if not ill take a trip to a scrappy and get one |

Post subject: | Re: brake fittings |
The union and it's thread is a different size, the size of the pipe doesn't change and neither does the size of the flare. |

Post subject: | Re: brake fittings |
Was going to say, you don't need to flare the pipe to 13mm!!! ![]() The flaring tool simply moulds the shape of the pipe to whatever union you put on the end (there's a few different types of flare, male, female, etc), and then the size of the union is the 13mm you're being told to put it to. Worst case scenario, get to a scrappies with a Mondeo in and chop them off ![]() |

Yeah, get to a scrappy with some wire cutters and cut 3 or 4 of the fucckers off and pick the best ones, then flare onto your pipe... Simples!! Paul |

Ben mate, to settle all confusion regarding this, the unions are 12mm, still uses 3/16 pipe and you flare it to the pipe size not union... if you need some, i think i got a couple from when i done this conversion will have a look tomorrow ![]() |
