Just fill it until it started coming out the oil cap. Then you know it's full :-)

I find putting a large funnel in and filling it until the funnel is brimmed up is the best way.

Guys, guys.

You forgot that 4 litres needs pouring over the outside of the engine. Make sure it gets everywhere Ben, but not a drop must go on the floor, otherwise you'll have to put another 4 litres on.

Engine oil works well to cool the gearbox down - which means smoother gear changes and less friction so the car accelerates faster.

If you can afford a litre or so of baby oil, that works even better in the gearbox! It's not good enough for the engine though as thats under a lot more stress, but I think if you add a bit of corn starch to thinken it up a bit, it should be fine. But don't add too much otherwise it will go gloopy and not be effective enough to protect your engine.

iirc - honda's use engine oil in the gearbox

Yup! 10w/30. Honda recommends to use it temporarily though, but I have heard of people using it for 10-20,000 miles no problem
