Spray it all. coloured ports look wicked. give it an extra layer to make sure it will stick right. |

as long as all the vital parts like bolt holes, ports, where the rocker cover goes etc are all covered then all should be well! |

Just clean it with a wire brush good and proper, you can spray it but it wont last very long and it will burn off because it gets SO hot and its alloy. But if you really really want to spray it, look into proper products. I did ask on the forum about it quite a long time ago and I think it was Terry which said about a certain product, might not have been though. I cba to look for the post at the moment but it's around somewhere lol. But seriously, just give it a good clean and it'll come up nice and last ![]() |

I sprayed my block when rebuilding my engine, and it's still on there now, no peeling or anything ![]() This stuff (and I used it on my exhaust, and it hasn't even peeling on that): ![]() ![]() |

nice Des. what about hammerite? seems to be pretty heat resistant as its used on calipers and the like? |

Post subject: | Re: spraying the head |
Calipers dont get anywhere near as hot as engine or exhaust parts. Hammerite is durable, but it's not as high temp resistant as it makes out. I tried it years ago on some exhaust part. It burnt off pretty much straight away despite being cured and layered. This stuff is specifically designed for this purpose, and I have to say it works ![]() |

Ahh right ![]() Give it a go, see how it turns out. What's the temp of Hammerite it says on the tin? Like I say, it definitely doesn't work on exhausts from experience, might be alright for your block and head though if it's been prepped and applied properly ![]() |

Yeah hammerite doesn't work on the exhaust, but on the block it's fine. I did my block in hammerite and its not showing any signs of peeling or anything. Well I did all my engine in hammerite apart from the head and it is all gravy so far. ![]() I will lie about the painting head situation... I painted mine. I just looked through thread and remembered ![]() I used hammerite on it and its still on there good and proper ![]() |
