Post subject: | URGENT: Removing ignition barrel |
Right, new ignition barrel has arrived with key (genuine ford items)... ive removed the chip from my orignial black key to pop in the new'n (anybody got a technique to remove the cap to remove the chip without hacking the key up?) so im trying to remove the old barrel with force... used a key, didnt work, took the metal bit out of the key out and got mole grips to force it to turn, and i snapped it within the barrel , yes im a muppet! so what else can i do to get it out? i want to get it done within the next hour because i need the car lol! (hammer and chisel? or will that fuck everything up?) thanks in advance chaps. |

I'd personally just remove as much of the outside of the barrel as possble to try get it out. If that means prying bits off ect, do it. Just try not to break the bit where the barrel mounts to! |

If you are keeping it off the public road you dont need to tax it. With regards to the drill, why didnt you just drill the barrel out so its smooth inside, put the key in and turn it? That would have been so much easlier ![]() |

I didn't know you had a drill to play with lol. But yeah, drill it out, should turn freely. If it doesnt, just use a bigger drill bit until it drills all the inside out, stick a screwdriver in there and turn it. Should work ![]() |
