lads, last year my black key stopped turning the boot lock, door lock, and eventually the ignition... so i started using my red key, the spare. one of the lads froze my keys in work the other day, and ive just tried to start it but the key wont turn in the ignition.... any clues chaps?

well i am assuming something to do with freezing the key has knackered it.....

maybe expanded or contracted? no idea

if it has make the bugger buy you a new lock set and keys!

will a new key not just do it?

new key won't do it on it's own - you need a new ignition barrel with key chap - and trying to help actually

sorry ball ache. ford would bum me for that wouldnt they? what about replacing the chip in my current key and re coding it to its original code?

Re-coding the chip. Ford will rip you a new arsehole for that!

As for the ignition shiz... sounds like your old key was worn out.. should have gotten a new one cut and not used the red one at all!

So your new frozen key doesnt turn the ignition? and how did it get unfrozen? Left alone or heated up?

no idea, the lad took it out n went i was only messin! not sure if it was fully frozen but it was soaked when he give it back.

whats my options then? and would a second hand set of locks, keys and ignition barrel be ok? or can i just get a new key cut danny?

You could probably get a key cut yeah, but then if water ect got to the chip then you are kind of screwed unless you can take the chip out of the old black key and stick that in a new key or just tape it to the transponder on the ignition

will they not take it out and move it over though? or just re code a new'n for me? does it have to be ford i go to?

how would i know if its the chip causing it not to turn in comparison to the key being worn down?
