Sounds like your water pump may have died.

if you have overheated it I garantee it's the core plug in the head, behind the camp pulley, pop off thetip half of the cambelt cover and pour some water in, if the water pump went the car wouldn't start as the cvh/pte engines water pump in driven by the cambelt as opposed to six belt driven on the zetec

Good point, too much time with zetecs.

Didn't know they had a core plug there, but yes if they pop it will pour out.

If that core plug has popped out and you have driven and overheated it, then it'll be beyond repair, would be cheaper to replace or upgrade the engine, check and see where the water is coming from cus if it's the water pump it's cheap and easy fix

True if it has massively overheated it can be cheaper to get a new engine.#

There is an easy way to test of you can plug the hole and get some water in it.
