hello to all just joined this forum as i have just bought a fiesta mk3 2l silvertop conversion,
i have just replaced the clutch and refit everything but the starter motor is whining. it sounds like its not disengaging from the flywheel when the engine has started running. have i wired it back up wrong??? was having a few beers at the time

anybody? , i can bup start the car and it runs fine no whiring from starter motor. as its getting insured for road tommorrow i cant really be bump starting car in mornings etc . any help would be greatly appreciated

take it off and refit it mate only advice i can give

If in doubt, a starter motor comes under the give it a clout rule.

Ok will do cheers . Just to top it off battery light us on dash and car cut out outside mates house. I'll have a look tomorrow . On plus side my new black diamond clutch is ace . Well until car died lol

Don't forget to check the alternator as well for the new problem.

Will do . Hopefully everything is full of crap from old clutch slipping and loads of dust clogged it up.

remove the starter motor and clean it out with loads of brake and clutch cleaner, let it dry out in the sun for an hour, then use a bit of oil or grease of the rod the starter gear slides along, this should help if it doesn't fix it, replace with a new starter, you can pick a new one up for around £50 or second hand for around £10

sorted mate it was a combination of shit wiring and it clogged up with clutch gunk etc .

now gearbox is dead in 5th . it just revs when you put it into 5th . and clunks when gearing up. i thought it could be engine mount but that would clunk on up and down gear changes.

maybe a new gearbox .?

Second hand box is cheapest idea, or have the 5 gear replaced, but then the other gears might fail, plus gearbox repairs are expensive

gearbox mount is broke hence the clunking. will it be better to put some fast road ones on or uprated ones or will the standard ones be fine????. got spare gearbox going to put in as well . good thing asbout fords tyheres loads of spares for cheap / ill get there eventually

Uprated mounts are £45 each and are terrible for road use, whereas stardard mounts are £4 each from a local motor factors, aslong as you replace both mounts, standard items should be fine

just bought these . ill try them when they arrive looks like i dont have my toy to drive till tuesday
