Right, I have this shitty idle problem which is annoying the hell out of me basically. The car doesnt like to idle at all unless i put my foot slightly on the accelerator. Then when im making it idle, it ticks over fine, doesnt miss or anything, but if i bring the revs up and drop them down, it pops out the exhaust (does sound good ![]() Things ive checked: Plugs, leads, coil pack, maf, timing, firing sequence. Things going to check: ISCV, lambda, injectors. To be fair, i dont know why its suddenly done it. I havent done anything major on it apart from take the throttle body off and change the rocker cover. Anyone got any other ideas to what it could be? |

lambda or catalytic converter |

Ive just checked the injectors and lambda, when the lambda was diconnected, the fuel smell was loads stronger, so that seems to be doing its job. I just need a 7mm spanner to get the iscv off to clean that now. This is gay and annoying me now. |

It does sound like maf, maybe its broke inside. |

Its not. The maf doesnt affect the idle in the way its doing it at the moment. |

When mine wasn't plugged in it was doing the exact same thing so if its not working it could be that, when I tried to drive it it would want to cut out when everytime I stopped, I had to keep my foot on the gas abit. |

Trust me, ive tested the maf, its not that. Plus i clean it every couple of weeks so it always gets checked visually too. Its not just the idle factor, it doesnt even like to fire up at all unless its promped too, which leads to the iscv basically. Im stripping it all down at the moment and tracing back all the work ive done over the last few months even though its mostly just been cleaning and spraying of the engine, but the over fueling and popping isnt good at all, it will just kill the kitkat. |

I just dug out my fault code reader. Fucking flash codes = hate them lol. Codes given - from what I can work out are (either current or previous): Vane air flow meter ISCV Engine coolant temp sensor I'll check the codes again tomorrow, and then have a better read of the manual for the fault code reader as there are two different tables and like 10 different ways to test it. But for now im going on them. |

Sounds like ISCV more than anything to me. Have you had a play about with the throttle cable too? Do they have TPS sensors on them? |

Post subject: | Re: GAY idle and overfueling problem |
Throttle cable has been off, and its all been put back on properly too. They do indeed have TPS, I took it off and made sure it spun internally ect, ill get my multimeter on it later and make sure its working, then start with all the electrical connectors too. So strange how its done this though, i mean, its not been driven for a few months, just been worked on. Only things ive taken off are: Throttle body, rocker cover, air filter + banana pipe + maf (as one), rad fan and then apart from thats it had a service and bits replaced, the only other thing is ive changed the oil filter for a new one, which is the right way up before you ask lol. |

Believe me mate, when you disturb things, they have a habit of buggering up. My Pulsar idled perfectly before the engine rebuild, but will it now? Will it fook, little too high for my liking. I've changed near enough everything and yet it still won't idle how it used to. Annoying. I'd still go for ISCV though on yours. If it was MAF it would rev like a sack of shit as you know, but yours is revving fine, just won't idle right. |
