Ok do driving to work fine and the accelerator loses power completely. When I put my foot my foot on the pedal it doesnt seem to register I have. Every now and then it does but mostly it's screwed I limped it home. Anyone got any ideas for this? |

i'm assuming the throttle pedal itself is ok? you tried to see if its your maf? i had a similar issue when i filled up with fuel from texaco! also like i was hitting a brick wall even when i had my foot flat to the floor! not sure what it was as i switched the car off and back on again and it was fine might of been something blocking the pick up/fuel filter you could also try and disconnect the ecu for about 30mins and let it re learn stuff see how it goes then |

I'll give it a whack tomorrow as I got a lift into and out if work today. After it started when it was almost home I definitely heard something snap. |

might be your throttle linkage, worth checking that as when you convert to a 2.0 you use the 1.6 linkage on the 2.0 TB, unless of course you use an RS1800 TB then there is no swapping of bits |

Would that cause the issue of the accelerator hardly registering before it went? Also it still just about drive home after i heard the snap sound? |

Is it running the proper 2.0 ECU and MAF, if not then this can cause all sorts of bother |

It does sound like the linkage may have partially come off, to which it won't be opening up as much. |

The maf is 2.0 and I did get a look at the ECU yesterday but went to find a torch then forgot again. Previous to this it had the temp sensor replaced and was running absolutely fine had that done on Wednesday, so it's been one day of nice running and then this. |

your 100% sure the maf is a 2.0 one? just confirm 100% what ecu you have as running the wrong one will make it run lean if its the linkage it should be an easy enough fix, take a look at it tomorrow and get some snaps and post them up, we'll try and help the best we can |

I'll check that tomorrow as I now know where it is (the silver box at the back of passenger footwell) Hoping my father can come up tomorrow and help me with the linkage. |

MAF sensor, the actual sensor was fine but the wires connecting to it where snapped |

So here are the pictures I've taken. It appears the MAF was to blame after all. I'll show you how I cured it (ok so it had fallen off completely yesterday whilst I was driving and that is what caused it I think) ![]() ![]() ![]() My ECU where would I find the code? I've found one on the black bit at the bottom of it. ![]() This is what appears to have cured the issue I found yesterday. The MAF had dislodged from the intake and was cradled above the lower arms. Reconnected it and used electric tape to tape it on so it wont come off again ![]() ![]() |

Did you clean the actual element inside the housing? Would be a good thing to do. ECU code will be on top of the ECU. Which means you will have to drop it out to see it. |

That falling off would cause a problem. Glad its sorted. |

Yeah a big problem. Looks like next for me to buy is a new intake to fit the 2.0 MAF. No can't get inside the MAF as I don't have the peice to undo it with. If it was just a star I could but it's the bit in the middle that makes it awkward ![]() |
