you can (use to anyway) get DIY glue together CV boots that mean you dont need to take the drive shaft out just cut old one off wrap new one a super glue together and fit new clips, seeped to work as long as you keep the grease away from the glued area. otherwise its a case of undoing the lower hub assembly and pulling out the drive shaft.
as for replacing the CAT/downpipe need to jack it up quite high, take off the cross member if fitted, drop if off the manifold and split the exhaust pull it off and replace, easier to get some one else to hold down pipe up while start the bolts/spring assembly.
all in all straight forward if follow a Haynes manual
