Does anyone know if there is a smaller starter motor than the cvh one that has the power to start a zetec engine, having a bit of a problem with OBX downpipe shorting the motor out |

the CVH is the shorter one anyways...other than an expensive epicyclic motor....if its not by much id be inclined to put a small flat in the pipe with a hammer where the terminal is. its not going to aversely affect flow. |

currently got a cvh motor fitted and hammered the box see pic below, so looks like going to have to cut it out and weld a bit of straight pipe ![]() |

think the longer Si BOSCH starter motor is 193mm long from mounting flange face, how long is one you have fitted? think the smaller one is CVH ![]() |

Have you tryed manifold heatwrap? That might stop the shorting due to the wrap being non conductive |

Get a starter motor from a smaller engine car. I couldnt fit a zetec or cvh one in with my manifold so got one off a 1.1 and it does the job fine |

use one off a 1.0/1.1/1.3 from a mk3/4 escort or early mk3 fiesta base model, they are only about 4inches long |

I tried a 1.1 starter back on my 2.0 and it wasn't long before it died, the bigger ones are bigger for a reason. |
