:? is there a way of telling if the cambelt has bin changed other than looking in service history, because the dealer didn't know, not bothered if i have to put new one on but dont really wona if the one thats on is ok?

take the top cover off from the timing belt cover if that made sence and look to c if theres any writing on the belt turn the engine over to c the rest ov the belt as well the more see through the lettering the older the belt

but personaly id change it so u know when it was changed coz u never know with some garages

make sure u get the tensioner checked as well when having the cam belt changed as u might need the cam belt and tensioner changed believe me u don't want the tensioner to fail!

a cam belt pulley kit is around £80 or so, plus labour to fit it :)

there not easy to fit unless your a mechanic, if i was u get a professional mechanic to do it because if it isn't fitted properly the engine can get seriously damaged eg, bent valves meaning cylinder head has to come off then u would need a new head gasket etc :( just get it done properly for peace of mined :)

i dont know if this applys to fez's. my old 205 collected swarf off the cambelt in the top of the belt cover, i took a it as a sign it needed changing, i never changed though and it broke, oops.
