Every post I've read it's just 'put them in'. My arms are falling off, I've bent a hammer handle, I've broken a screwdriver, every tool I have that could potentially go in the split to widen it has gone in, but it's not budged. I've also tried doing things like putting the jack under the balljoint to add pressure, I've used anything and everything to get extra leverage. I've gotten nowhere. I know the wishbone and balljoint are the correct size, confirmed for definite. Tips, tricks, ANYTHING!!?? |

I've followed the multiple guides made by people out there. Then i even tried other wats I could think of. |

put the bolts in that hole it to the body and take out the bolt tht hold the ball joint out and then jack it up then it should pop then put the bolt in dn if that does not work |

The bolt in the hub is definitely out. The main wishbone to carrier bolts are in but loose. Jacking up causes the hub to move outwards to the side if the car. No matter what I do unless the angle is perfect on the ball joint the hub moves out, and when it is perfect I can compress the strut to insane amounts and it still won't go in. The hub split to separate where the spindle carrier Torx bolt goes doesn't open up. Things are that seized I've rounded bolts using triple extensions, then bashed on a slightly smaller imperial socket and got the old bolts out that way. I can't even get the calipers off at the moment! |

i take it youv bought new wishbones? i start with puttin one of the others in then the ball joint then the last remaining bolt, trust me its easier you shouldnt need to prise the gap open mate its metal so aint gonna shift much when doin the ball joint the ball joint metal bit that goes in the hub should be placed under the hub hole thing so that it is straight and true and it should jus slide in then you put the retaining bolt in job done let us know if you sort it or have any more issues pal ![]() oh n get ur self down to ford for some new bolts ![]() |

Way ahead of you on the bolts ![]() I might need to get some fine emery or something to clean and smooth the inside of the hubs balljoint hole. I've had it perfectly aligned and even a third of the way in and it wouldn't go any more! |

does the ball joint fit the hub. it is the correct size because they made a few with a few different sizes and no matter what ytou do it will not go in. they usually just pop straight in without no major problems. |

I got to the point where I physically checked with a tape measure, spanner and feeler gauges. Exactly the same. It does actually go in, just not all in, only about a third, if that. |

is it a new wishbone. if so have a look at the shape of the ball joint and if you can inside the hub were it goes in. happend the same as me and i filed down the balljoint but i found out that its only got to be only about 2mm bigger so it wont go in because it was the wrong one or summinc like that lol |

what make are the wishbones because when i did them the first time i put cheap ones on when i did it the next time i put QH parts on they would not fit as the old ones the bit that goes into the hub was bigger on the new one you may have to open it up i would try with the wishbone off to see if the ball joint goes into the hub ??? |

Can't remember right now, but it does match measurement wise. Drive shaft is safe, the ball joint easily points inwards to the car in it's current position of partially in the spindle carrier hole. |

Update: The wishbones are the same, pattern parts, but same each side. The passenger side went on today in less than 20 minutes, no problems but still a few choice words and grunting involved. The drivers side, the problem one, seems to have too slightly big a top part on the balljoint, yet it's exactly the same size as the old balljoint on the old wishbone. I've cleaned out the hole and even applied a little sandpaper, along with some grease. I also lightly sanded the top of the balljoint but still no joy ![]() Ideas fir the next step? |

A very rough picture of what's happening. ![]() Obviously not to scale. The red 'tube' is the hole for the balljoint to go in. Looking at it you think it goes all the way up at that diameter, but there is a step inwards halfway up. This is on both sides, but as mentioned earlier, it was put straight in on the passenger side. This seems to be a 0.25mm step inwards, for a diameter reduction of 0.5mm on the spindle above the annular groove over the lower part. The difference from the passenger side compared to the drivers side is something like 0.1mm max, maybe 0.5mm but it's hard to tell with my feeler gauges in the hole, which I used very easily to determine the balljoint spindles are exactly the same. Annoying thing is, why is it a different size on either side? Anyone have any opinions on either widening the hub hole or reducing the spindle diameter? |

ive had the same problem mate. i no it aint the right way to go about and do things. but i attacked the bottom ball joint with a grinder and shaved a 1mm off then it went in, dont no if it will be the same as yours sorry i cant be more help. if you were closer id come and give you a hand. |
