silly question, whats a shim

im guessing a peice of metal to space out the gap maybe

if anyones got any pics that would be great as i could probobly make one

You are correct, its a metal hula hoop to make the shocks that bit wider.

I am pretty sure happypaul was using them on one of his many fiesta's, might be worth asking him.

Also does anyone know if they are safe to run? or if you get any side effects from doing this? i cant imagin it would make any difference, tbh i could just weld them in and then im sure it would be fine

you need a 0.6mm thick shim for thesuspension as i did it with my coilovers on my si

i have ally shim pack material in work (basically thin sheets off ally glued together that u can pull off to the desired thickenss)
i cut out a strip the width of the bottom of the shock then bent it around the bottom of the shock leaving a gap for the hook mount at the bottom

sounds easy enough, cheers
