hi all who bestow there eyes upon this thread
i have a toy fiesta si with 2litre lump and its got a diesel box with black diamond clutch.
now today ( with it bein lovely ) i took it for a blast to show some new motors up and all was goin well...................
TILL i gave it some beans and as soon as it reached 4k revs it made a lil bit of a rattle noise? this worried me so i drove bk sulkin
i got it bk on the drive and revved it wile in neutral n it was fine no noise no nuttin. so im assumin gearbox or summat along lines of transmission?
please help

what sort of rattle? are all your engine/transmission mounts ok? try jacking it up so both front wheels are off the groung then stick in first and see how the wheels move, my gear box sounds horrible if you accelerate hard and when i took it garage to be checked out one wheel sort of spazzes out lol

its like a tinny rattle n it seems to be comin from gear box side. i know def int the engine as i revved that hard in neutral n its sweet as a nut so i know summats up with transmission just not sure wot. would i be best jus stickin another box in? plus i want the 1.6 box as this deisel box is a bag of big hairyones. ok so it gives a higher top end but i dont wana fly round everywher at 140 i jus wana show expensive motors up wen they try it on lol

i'd say a new box, take it to a garage to get the once over just to make sure all the drivetrain is in order because it would be shit to get a different gearbox fitted and still have the problem but then again if your after a 1.6 gearbox anyway then i suppose you dont lose out

wud be nice to jus switch it over. iv got a mate who can check it me on monday n he has a m reg 5door petrol fiesta but not sure wot engine. will the gearbox off that be ok to use?. can imagine ratios will be a lil smaller but i can sort summat out to make it strong enuf. if not i will travel the earth to find one n maybe we can sort you out wi one aswel lou. everyone knows you bin after one long enuf lol

box should fit as they are all changable across the range of fords in that error i think but i wouldnt stick a 1.1 in as i can imagine getting about 2mpg on a long journey lol

il hold out for an si one then. are the box's from the 1.4 si's the same as the 1.6?

iv been askin this question for ages but no one knows, i presume an escort 1.6 box will be the same though, iv been trying to find a site with gear ratios to see what the difference is.

my mate looked at it today n yes the box is dying lol but iv managed to source an xr2i one with linkage n selector
this will fit wont it?

how much? is it the same as the si's?

btw, they should all fit, if an escort rst with lsd fits then im sure an xr2i one will fit.

the si one he got is from a 1.6 e wants £30 quid but its a travel for me never mind you lol
so i cud bring it to mine n you could collect from ther. iv been quoted 150 to put it in as it'l take a mornin to do where as if i did it id get half way chill n end upleavin it lol im lazy

£30 sounds good to me, dont know when i would be able to come over but obviously asap. i got quoted £150 here to have one fitted so i suppose its the going rate

not sure if i can do the whole trip with you but should be able to get to yours at the end of the month, so is there any chance you can take me for a spin in your car? i havent actually felt how quick they are?

yeah il take you for a spin but i cant hammer it as the box might go
all iv bin doin is revvin it to 3k lol
compared to the 1.6 mate its a big slab of power mines runnin bout 150 on last printout iv got somewhere
with stage 2 port n polished head beige injectors (apparently) plus its had a remap n then iv got the black diamond clutch which really does help n then the diesel box which is pap lol
mine mite need uprated mounts tho as it jumps on the down gears ha

i'd be happy with just a plain 2 litre atm lol, im gonna start buying bits for it soon when iv got my car lookin tidy. i was thinkin to build the engine up first rather than pull mine out and swap it all so i still gotta car and hopefully it should be a quick out then in.

these conversions can be done in a day u will still hav a car jus a faster one lol good idea buildin it up tho get some throttle bodies on there lol
