cycles sum of the exhaust gases back into the inlet manifold to reduce emissions i think ( exhaust gas recirculator ) you can blank it off for less then a tenner but tbh you can hardly tell, it just looks better under the bonnet and might sound better ![]() |

stuff n that has it nailed, but the only problem with that is you're gonna have to live with that engine management light... but assuming it's already on if the EGR valve is playing up anyway? |

Don't you just block the vacuum hose and all will be fine. |

That will explain it. Tbh, it probably doesn't work as its so full up with carbon on a 15+ year old car. On newer cars its much more advanced. |

I've got a exhaust manifold for a Zetec engine with the EGR holes blanked if anyone is interested in buying it I'll put up a proper for sale thread when I can get a few pictures of it Scott |

guide viewtopic.php?f=16&t=7664 yeah its undo able, long as you dont cut the vacum hose coming from the egr unit and keep all the bits and dont damage or break the egr bits while removing them from the manifold ![]() |
