hi all. i have my si up for sale but been thinking about keeping it for a future classic as it has hardly has any rust and more and more are getting scrapped.
ive got a few things to bring it up to scratch. and im not too knowledged on the si's. i need to tighten the belt as it makes a bit of a slapping noise and i dont know what pulley tensions it or do i need a percific tool for it. aslo i need to change the gear linkage- is the cat and heat shield in the way?? also the interior light does not come on when the front doors open but turns on when the rear doors open as its a 5door. and i have a knocking noise- i have new arb bushes and suspension bushes, are there any tips on how to fit both sets of bushes, ill be putting it on 35mm springs so will change the bushes then i think.

which belt you refering to if your on about the alternator belt you cant tension them they are self adjsuted and if its squeeling its worn if your on about the cambelt the chances are puttin strain on a belt thats covered many thousand miles will end up doing snapping and doing engine damag. As for the interior light when u open the door theres a little switch on the door frame by the hinge that will need replacing hope this hlps

as for the arb bushes m8 jack up both sides of the car because wen you try doing undoing the bolts with one side jacked up there is alot of strain on the bolt which just end up round off and soak them in wd40
