Hi,

I have a 2 litre FSI and the rear wheel bearings have been gradually getting worse and worse!

Bought a couple of bearings from the local motorfactors and had a look through the Haynes and it looks hard?

Is it as hard as it looks without special tools (a press or anything)? Or should I just get a couple of half decent hubs from a scrappy and bolting the whole lot on?

you dont need a press for the back ones. hammer and a slightly bent cheapie screwdriver have served me well in changing taper roller bearings. and a big socket or block of wood for the seal. if your mechanicaly minded...its brain out of gear work...even if not. its not a difficult task... the only twattish bit will be getting the drums off if they are lipped.

personally i wouldnt bother going to the breakers...it might not make noises now..but no guarantee it wont in 6 weeks time..then its back to square one.

hope that helps.
Jam.

Cheers Jam,

I will have a crack at it and let you know how I get on.

Loads of people must have had problems with them yet there are no guides on here?
