Im a complete utter newbie when it comes to cars. Never even looked under a car bonnet until i was 18 so am clueless. The alternator belt slipped off the other night but didnt snap. I have had a go at putting it back on but it is too slack, how to i tighten the tensioner to tighten the belt back up. I see where the tensioner is but simply do not know how to tighten it. Any help would be so helpful thanksyou!! ![]() |

i've not done this in ages o might be slightly off, but i think you need use an allen key too move the tensioner and then tighten the bolt with a spnner i might be well off so have a check here too ![]() viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2545 |

The tensioner moves as you loosen/tighten the bolt 15mm iirc. Use a spanner to get in there should be a quick fix. Its a multi V belt so i dont see how it would slip off. Sounds like you have it the wrong way around or a tensioner/idle pully has broken. If it is non pas (if they do an SI with out pas) then the ajustment is through the alternator as they dont use a tensioner or idle pulley hth onslack thats the cambelt |
