Didn't think it was possible for them too come out after changimg one on my saxo. You got the right drive shaft?, sound like yours is too short. |

which end is coming out? there is a clip on the wheel end if this is missing may be the shaft can go into the hub to far and fall out the other end? ultimately there must be something wrong |

hi they are the standard si driveshafts and it is the end that goes into the gear box it has a c clip on the spline that is ment to hold it in but for some reason it comes out it shouldnt be to short as i have not changed it but will check the hub side incase it has been pulled to far from the gearbox plus both times i have been going in a straight line when it has come out if that makes any sense ![]() |

If it was fine before you did the lower arm then the arm must be at fault. and id say its too long are you 100% positive you have the correct arm? id measure the original arm bush to balljoint to be sure. If you dont have the original try the other side im sure there the same keep us posted |

hi i got the lower arms from fiesta centre in norwich and i have since rung them to query why driveshaft comes out and they say it would not be that at fault and even if they sent me they mk3 lower arms instead of the mk3.5 as they are still same size in length but a i have since took driveshaft out and it still had the metal clip that goes round the end of the spline that is supposed to hold it in the driveshaft looked in quite good condition except if you remove the gaitor on the gearbox side the driveshaft will pull into 2 (should it be to come apart?) and reveal the 3 bearings but the part that comes out is the cup that has the spline attached to it that is ment to fix into he gearbox hope you can understand this ![]() ![]() |

There must be something that is wrong with the cup or the arm. im leaning more to the arm as it was changed and all was ok b4 the arm change. its not the box because you changed it the shafts are standard and you have not changed them. the spider stays on the shaft with the circlip and all 3 bearings are in place on the spider. i would still measure the arms to be 100% next step i suropse is replace the whole drive shaft yes its normal when the cup comes away from the spider with the c.v boot removed. |

hows the gearbox mounts? well all mounts too much play in them and i surpoe the box could lift enough to allow the shaft to pop out |

it is the shaft with the snap ring on that comes out i have since took driveshaft out and the snap ring is still on the end i have changed the gearbox so dont think it is the diff either cheers ![]() |

Are you using the 1.4 gearbox, if your using a different box say a 1.1 for example the drive shafts may be different, or the other way round 1.4 gearbox with 1.1 drive shafts, on some cars they are different not too sure about the Fez, i know that they are different on saxos and stuff. Also maybe at the end of the drive shaft a bit may of snapped off if its only just long enough to fit in the hub then anything could knock it out. Or maybe something is stuck in the hub stopping it fitting all the way in? Just an idea though. Good luck! ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: driveshafts |
i was using a 1.4 gearbox when it first come out then changed to a 1.1 or a 1.3 as couldnt source 1.4 close by, but gearbox bolted straight in except 4 for changing gearbox mounts so it does sit in the same place the mounts are ok so should not move about, looking at driveshaft it does not show any wear or breakages plus when i took it out it even still had that retaning clip on the end which i thought was the problem as thought it might of come of but it still there and looks ok plus hub fine it the end that goes into the actual gearbox plus there is nothing in gearbox as that has been fully checked cheers for info and help but car has been nightmare since it has been on the road Fix On Roadside Daily |
