Hey, i'm having some trouble replacing the front shocks on my car. I've got the pinch bolt undone and then I covered the bit where the hub and shock join in wd40 and hit it with a hammer, hard. It didn't budge... Does anyone have any tips?
Thanks, Sam.

Ignore the Haynes manuals "Tap with a rubber hammer to get it free" and replace that with batter like fook with a rubber hammer to loosen the dirt and crap then put your foot on the hub and gently but firmly push it down until it comes free then rotate to allow the strut to come free!!

that's what I did, and it worked fine for both sides.
Getting them back in ain't so easy, but that's just perseverance that works!!

Hope that helps

Paul

ensure the top mounting point is still attached..doesnt have to be tight..and as previously said..belt fook out of the hub with a soft mallet..i tend to use copper over rubber. but whatever you have available.

or

i have also used a club hammer (4lb or there abouts) and a short piece of wood about 2 inches thick to stop it battering the life out of the hub...be careful not to twat your wing tho...ive not had one that wouldnt shift after that treatment

Jam.
