Post subject: | suspension wishbones ball joint being eaten up by car! |
howdy! i need help my fiesta si has been a top motor before i lowered it 60mm it and now it eats tyres and wishbones all the time! on friday i was pulling up for sum traffic lights then suddenly 2 larged bangs occured i got out to have a look and i couldn't believe it my offside wheel had smashed in2 the bottom of the front wing and so i called my mechanic he came out and looked at the damage and the ball joint had smashed completely out of place and damaged the driveshaft and the wheel hub ![]() apprently its due to the lowering as i only had sum 2 new wishbone ball joints fitted in july due to excessive wear what can i do to prevent this happening and no i will not b putting on the standard suspension on! does ne1 no how good the powerflex bushes r ? and can they improve handling and will they last longer ?inplace of standard bushes in the wishbone ball joint ![]() cheers |

all i can suggest is, if it happens again bump it back up to 35mm/30mm.. although i know you can get expensive lower arms but expect to pay near £200 a piece for uprted ones |

where can i buy uprated lower arms from? and could this problem b caused by the tracking and camber of the front wheels? |

tracking the car doesnt adjust the camber of the wheels, so id hazard an educated guess and say its got nothing to do with it. the strain on those balljoints must be pretty excessive to actually pop the ball out, so i guess perhaps your struts are siezed or you drive over really pathetic roads?? as far as where to get them from, i think you can get the lower arms from ford, press the old bushes out, and get some new polly bushes pressed in.. Im not the best person to ask as i havent doen this. found this on a post of mouse': ![]() Paul |

i went on to the powerflex website and they do complete wishbones i might go for these if the bushes on the wishbones only last 3 months like last time |

and to put it blundly the lower ur car the more ur gonna get the inner edge on the front tyres to wair (sp) and if the ball joint pops out its be cos the lower arms not designed to b at that angle and about 2 years ago ford took the fezzy lower arms of sale coz ov the crappines ov the lower arms (bushes ripping out) sounds like uve got some ov the crap batch ![]() |

i'm sure i had the right arms last time and the time before but if they go again i might go for adjustable arms to help camber angle if possible ![]() |
