Been fiddling about in my si trying to fix the boot pop, while trying to sort of trace the wires I came across a square box behind the driver kick panel. Fiddling about with this, the inside seems corroded and fryed (burn marks, tracks disintegrated etc), so I've tried cleaning it up, hooking it back up, and its now setting off an alarm I wasnt even aware I had lol.

Disconnecting the box seems to shut the siren up, and after a bit of fiddling, It now doesn't set off the siren and I can start my car again, but I believe its the reason why my boot pop doesn't work (I've sent a pulse up the wire from the A piler, and it seems to unlock, and checked relays etc, all seem fine).

Tracing the wires prove a bit problematic in this car since the wires are different colour variations then shown in Haynes manual and my old si didn't have this module, though I did install electric pack myself in it so I have some experience with the actually wiring.

My question is, is this actually an alarm module, does the boot pop divert to it and how much does it cost to replace?

P.S I did take photos, but I cant actually get to them right now. But the Codes written on the front are

yes it is the alarm and with my one any way if i remeved it my boot would not work and nether would my engine lol buy yes it does run thought that boz if i was u just rewire it away from the box job done

Yes however, the alarm was somehow set off yesterday after I tried cleaning it, while I was sitting in the car mulling the boot pop problem over. I figured it uses the central locking etc to decide if to arm or disarm the alarm, however, since I was already sitting in the car, should it have gone off? Unlocking, locking the car with the key didn't stop the alarm, neither did key in ignition, only thing I could do, given that I had a really annoying siren going off, is disconnect the box and fix the problem with the fuse for the horn out.

Btw, it fixed itself, no idea how....

Figured that just replacing it would be a better option :)

i disconnected the siron speaker as i now have a aftermarket alarm

I'd fitted an aftermarket alarm to my previous Si, but I have little time to spare for this new one over the next few months, so I'm concentrating on restoring it to standard. Fixed up most the body work, just working on the electrics now. And besides, the alarm module seems to activate the immobiliser when its going off, so disconnecting the siren wont really help :)

if u keep the black box there and rip out the siron inder the bonnet .. sorted that keeps the immobiliser working and stops the old alarm going off / immoblising urr car godd for a aftermatket alarm :D

Question, this may seem stupid, but how will ripping the siren out stop the immobiliser? Surly disconnecting the fuse does the same job, and when I did that, the immobiliser was still active and preventing me from using the car

Well, I got a new alarm module, the Alarm has yet to go off, and it seems to have fixed the boot pop. So all is well :D
