my 2.0ltr is wank on fuel. Im hoping my idea is correct. Do any of the 2 thermostat sensors or the one on the inlet manifold affect mpg? Maybe its telling ecu its running cold all the time...? Also ive got no temp gauge working |

i think the engine temperature sensor enriches the fueling when cold as a choke would, but they are two separate sensors one for ECU and other for temp gauges, is the temp gauge failed or is it actually running that cold? what sort of MPG are you getting? if its running that rich thought it would be smoking a bit to? Good old Haynes manual gives info on testing temp sensors. |

Well I doubt its running that cold cause it was like that all day at Ford Fair including sitting around in traffic, ques, and ragging it on the track ![]() that is how much it smokes on gear change, but bear in mind it didnt have any proper boxes on lol Right so really I could do with changing them 2 sensors, and checking if the temp gauge sensor is faulty or not, I read somewhere you can earth something to make sure it isnt the wiring.... I am unsure of how to do that, as I have no haynes manual lol |

if extra rich would think it smoke more on full throttle, r u sure the poor MPG isnt just the way you drive it!! Lol. according to haynes manual if gauge not reading at all, unplug sensor wiring multi plug, with a link wire ground the connector plug, switch on ignition without starting and gauge should indicate hot. if it does faulty sensor. (or in haynes get out could be a broken wire) |

well i was doing 65 home and used over half for 120miles which is crap. The brakes were sticking on btw. Got a nackered servo pipe which im sorting tonight. Must have let air in system. Think my wiring is duff for that gauge too. There is no chance my 2.0ltr is fueling right... Like i said i hope its a sensor!? It must be. Its smoking like a twat as shown on that vid |

just a thought. Got no egr or carbon box. So i unplugged each of the sensors and blocked the 2 holes on the inlet. Maybe i'd be better off putting the 2 sensors back on and just blocking the egr pipe and carbon box pipe and keep the sensor piped to the inlet as that must be throwing the ecu out having nothing plugged in???! |
