my 2l conversion is'nt starting. ive checked the sparkplugs and there is no spark! ive checked the plug on the coilpack nd there is a voltage on both outside pins (12v-ish) with the middle being 1v-ish. been told it could be the cps or coilpack anyone know which of these is more likely to be the cause? |

it's common for coilpacks to pack up on the Si. |

fitted the holder and still no further forward (have'nt even looked at it for 3 weeks ![]() had a thought though, according to the haynes book of lies, the 2l spark plug gap should be 1.3mm (iirc), is this the gap everyone uses as it seems a pretty big gap! |

Id give that a go mate, worth checking I had 1mm plug gaps, I'm sure ford ended up changing them to 1mm due to the HT leads shitting themselves due to the large gap. |

i would imagine there would be a spark even if the gap is 1.3mm haveyou checked the crank sensor with a multimeter could be an ecu fault or PCM fault also check for breaks in the wiring loom to various sensors especially to the coil pack and crank sensor and make sure all connections are tight |

a question i'd like to know the answer to, does it matter what cps u use? 1.6 or 2l? |

Post subject: | Re: no spark from spark plugs |
Well as the flywheel is different on the 2.0ltr i would hazzard a guess at use a 1.6 one |

Post subject: | Re: no spark from spark plugs |
as paul says you have to use the 1.6 crank position sensor as the 2.0 one makes the sensor sit alot ferver out due to the 2.0 flywheel being bigger than the 1.6 one. i had this problem on mine when i did the conversion, i left the 2.0 cps housing fitted and it wasnt reading the marks on the 1.6 fly wheel, so after a pain the the arse job of taking whe gearbox, clutch and flywheel off to change the damn thing it worked. |
