| Post subject: | funny smell. |
the other day i drove up a steep hill, stopped at the top and the car was making a strange smell, not oil or rubber. now whenever i stop the engine and get out i get a whiff of somthing which smells like a hairdryer/blow heater, you know the type, kind of electric filamant smell! 
any ideas? i dont want a fire! cheers. |

Mine smells like it all the time when I've blasted it or gone up a hill, like you say. |

Doesn't mean it's on the way out though, mine was replaced earlier this year and it does it. You'll notice it if you're holding the car on a hill with the revs going at the biting point (no handbrake or normal brakes stopping you from rolling, just the revs). |

i dunno..... my clutch pedal is bleedin vertical! my knee touches my face when i change gear!
godammit, I dont have ?200.

?200??? Buy a clutch for ?50, get garage to do it for ?80. Thats what I payed You'll love the car after a new clutch

when you park up smell your front brakes too, could have a caliper thats binding and burning the pad on the disc. |

i changed my oil last week (again!) it went all over the block and various other bits when i took the filter off, the smell could be that no? it never pongs under the bonnet, just outside the car and the vents! i know it aint the cat as thats fresh. |

look at ya all blaming it on the clutch... Its obvious that after booting it for a bit u all get a bit scared and... err.... skid..... in yer Y-FRONTS that is.... so the smell is actually most probably what ever u had to eat the night before....
