Post subject: | 2.0 engine technical problem |
Hi guys i am half way through a 2ltr conersion, (you know that point where you have dismantled as much as you can and your doubting whether it will ever go back together) 1) i didnt think i needed to change looms from the mondeo to the fiesta but i just read a post that says you do. can anyone shed some light please. 2) How do i tell if i got internal or external PATS and will it make much difference if i change the ecu and have the original fiesta key with red chip. the mondeo doesnt have the chip. 3) does anyone know the difference between a series one and a series 2 zetec? 4) does anyone have any pictures of engine bays whether they are fiesta or mondeo with 1.6 1.8 and 2.0 zetecs in, i am particularly interested in the inlet manifolds because neither my si or the mondeo has the metal inlet manifold. but my si was apparently a 2.0 conversion but since taking engine out (i bought it seized) Have discovered its a 1.8, with plastic inlet manifold. many thanks in advance, please help me!!!!! ![]() |

hey mate have a check through this: http://83.217.190.4/fsi/viewtopic.php?t=122 1)i do believe that if your car was a 1.6 16v before it had the 2.0L conversion then the loom should not need replacing 2) i dont have a clue on this one, maybe the guide i posted the link to may be able to help or someone else more experienced than me will be able to shed some light 3) i think the series one zetec had sticky valves and they sorted the problem out with the series two 4) i dont have a pic of my engine bay but if you look in the members gallery( just had a look check the main site in the members cars JD Fiesta has a pic of his 16v Si engine bay) there should be some there, if not try and go to a scrappy and find a 1.6 16v Si inlet or a 1.8 16v XR2i inlet or a RS1800 inlet they should do the trick ps: people correct me on anything i have got wrong cheers |

You are correct, the RS1800 has 130bhp, not the XR2i Zetec. |

Am i right in saying that only a series 1 zetec will easily transplant into a SI, or will a series 2 drop in easily (without modification)? would it be a good idea to use a RS1800 clutch and gearbox with the 2.0l mondeo engine? cos ive heard that they have better ratios for acceleration. Where as the mondeo is better for top speed? |
