Good evening,

Just looking for some opinions on the best spark plugs that you have used in your car or that you are currently using..

i know a sparkplug is a sparkplug at the end of the day and as long as it sparks thats kinda all that matters,

But these companies,
Bosch , Denso, NGK , Champion, MotorCraft
(i wont use champs again as they go rusty at the slightest hint of moisture)
have there range of cheap to expensive plugs

platinum, double platinum
super plus, super 4,
iridium, super iridium lol
single twin quad electrode etc...

then there's standard ford MotorCraft and MotorCraft platinum

each companies boasts about this and that,

and so on,

what is your preferred choice of plug.
or what do you know its the best plug to run on the zetec-e lump,

currently i am trying out the bosh super 4's and they dont seem to impress me they seem to have killed the pleasant powerband from 4k-6k,
but increased bottom end torque?
the super 4s seem to run abit colder as they come out a with carbon deposits on the base of the plug

my old set of NGK R's seem to be the best all round, they seem to run hotter than the boshs as they come out a little less tanned than the Bosch plugs

all opinions welcome :)

so it appears we have a mixed opinion
between NGK Bosch and Motorcraft.

If the next to posters say denso and champion then i guess no-one really knows what the best plug is lol,

if i had the time and money i'd rent a rolling road for a day and test several plug and gap combination lol.

I would like to think that the Motorcraft plugs were the best for the engine as i guess they might have been specified in the original engine blue prints lol, but everyone knows someone else can make a part for a ford better than original :P

New Motorcraft plugs are made by NGK anyway.

I personally use Denso as i've got a supplier state side who stocks them at a very reasonable price, but anything iridium ftw

to be honest i think the plugs must differ on engines.
as pepole are getting good results from a brand of plugs when other's using the same plugs are getting bad results.

so i am going to give it trile and error basicly.

i will take all the brands listed and note them down then try each 1 over time and see wich work best for my engine.

I had no end of trouble on my si (think it was my first one) with plugs
NGK's didnt help, bosch didn't help and Motocraft sorted it right out
so thats what I would go for.

My cupra melts bosch plugs, so I need colder grade iridium jobs, but thats not
needed on a N/A car.

Motocraft

All I know about it is I put brand new NGK's in and it ran like shit, then I put some
used Motocraft items in and it ran like a dream.

Plus, I did the gaps on all of them to make sure they were in.
